A PS3 YLOD Fix – The Simple Way
The simplest pS3 YLOD fix is, of course to get Sony to do the repair. Just box up your broken console and then ship it off. Of course, there are a couple of downsides associated with his – namely that you will have to pay $150 and wait about 8 weeks to get the machine back. To add insult to injury, you will also discover that they have wiped the entire contents of your hard drive in the process. Now, this is something that I didn’t believe at first but I have had it confirmed by several of my friends whose consoles also suffered the PS3 YLOD (guess we’ve all been ‘unlucky’ – at least that’s according to official Sony figures – yeah right!) I can tell you, they were all pretty pissed off when the machines came back minus their valuable saved game data and PSN downloads – one of my buddies reckons he had spent about $800 on content just to have it all taken away, and whats more the problem wasn’t even with the hard drive!!!
Ok, so the simplest PS3 YLOD fix isn’t the best one then – so what can you do? Well, I know of a couple of guys who took their machines to a local repair shop and while this is a decent option, it still cost them over $100 each and they still had to wait for a couple of weeks to get the repair carried out. That’s too much like waiting for me – when I get downtime I need to get back online and gaming as soon as I can.
So, that brings me to the third option – fix it yourself. Now, you might be saying – ‘I cant do that – I wouldn’t know where to start’ – but you can relax on that front – because I have been using a great guide called PS3 Yellow light Fix by repair dude Rob Sheffield – and I’ve been getting great results.
