The simplest pS3 YLOD fix is, of course to get Sony to do the repair. Just box up your broken console and then ship it off. Of course, there are a couple of downsides associated with his – namely that you will have to pay $150 and wait about 8 weeks to get the machine back. To add insult to injury, you will also discover that they have wiped the entire contents of your hard drive in the process. Now, this is something that I didn’t believe at first but I have had it confirmed by several of my friends whose consoles also suffered the PS3 YLOD (guess we’ve all been ‘unlucky’ – at least that’s according to official Sony figures – yeah right!) I can tell you, they were all pretty pissed off when the machines came back minus their valuable saved game data and PSN downloads – one of my buddies reckons he had spent about $800 on content just to have it all taken away, and whats more the problem wasn’t even with the hard drive!!!

Ok, so the simplest PS3 YLOD fix isn’t the best one then – so what can you do? Well, I know of a couple of guys who took their machines to a local repair shop and while this is a decent option, it still cost them over $100 each and they still had to wait for a couple of weeks to get the repair carried out. That’s too much like waiting for me – when I get downtime I need to get back online and gaming as soon as I can.

So, that brings me to the third option – fix it yourself. Now, you might be saying – ‘I cant do that – I wouldn’t know where to start’ – but you can relax on that front – because I have been using a great guide called PS3 Yellow light Fix by repair dude Rob Sheffield – and I’ve been getting great results.

Rob has carried out more PS3 YLOD fixes than I’ve had hot dinners so you can be sure that the information he gives you is first class and guaranteed to work. In fact, I’ve become a bit of a local celebrity thanks to Rob’s guide because I’m now the ‘come to’ guy for mending the pS3 YLOD in my local area. And you know what? Before I used the guide I hadn’t even seen the insides of my PS3!

The guide covers all the main problems associated with the PS3 including … and the Red Screen, Black Screen, 3 beeps issue, HDMI problems, DNS errors, No power, no audio and even how to fix the controllers – in fact, if its bust , this will show you how to fix it.

The guide comes as a downloadable PDF file and streaming videos which are clear and easy to follow. Rob also runs a neat little forum where you can get friendly advice and you can even contact him directly if you get really stuck. That’s great value for the money you have to spend.

The guide works on every model of PS3 from 20Gb all the way up to 320Gb slims (yes they are affected by the problems as well!) so you really cant go wrong. So, if you are looking for a cheap and effective PS3 YLOD fix, then make sure you grab a copy of this guide – I did and I haven’t looked back.

There are lots of so-called cures for the PS3 YLOD error but how do you know if any of them really work? One of the major problems with carrying out a repair on your own is that, usually, you only get one attempt to fix the problem. Some of the repair methods that you can find on-line are dodgy to say the least and a few of them can actually end up causing more harm than good. The fact of the matter is, if you screw up even a single step you can end up making a whole mess of the repair and rendering your PS3 totally useless.

This fear of ruining the console is probably the main reason why so many gamers are content to sit back and let someone else do the work. Of course, this can cost several hundred dollars – especially if you get Sony to carry the repair out – but did you realise that most repair shops don’t even give a a guarantee with their work. At best you might get a couple of months warranty against the same failure happening again, but this is the exception rather than the rule. So, when you come to think about it, there’s really not that much of a downside to having a go at repairing the PS3 YLOD on your own. You can actually save loads of cash, and, in addition, its very interesting. After all how often do you get the chance to take your console to bits and really find out how it works.

Dont Just Dive In If You Want To Get Rid Of The PS3 YLOD For Good

The one major recommendation that I would offer is not to just dive in and pull the machine apart. There are several techniques that require a full understanding of how they work – and what can go wrong with them – before you carry them out.

The method that I’ll describe here, and one of the most commonly used ones, is called the Re-Flow repair. This is generally done in one of two ways but the end result is the same. The PS3 YLOD is caused by the system overheating and internal damage being caused to the components. The most common fault that happens when the console overheats is that the thin lines of solder connecting the processor and the GPU – the main graphics chip – become damaged. These tracks are responsible for the data flow between the components and, like a railroad , if they are broken then the data can’t flow between its source and destination. The net result is a broken console. The whole point of the Re-Flow technique is to heat the solder on the board to a point where it re-flows and bridges the gaps caused by the initial problem.

The simplest way to perform this process is by taking the console apart and using a high powered hair dryer to heat the board. The whole process usually takes about 15-25 minutes and is quite safe and easy to carry out. Another way to achieve the same effect, but one that I don’t recommend is to run the console without any cooling. The obvious problem with this process is that the other components on the board run a high risk of burning out and thus making the problem worse.

Its vital that you let the whole system cool down completely before putting it back together again and seeing if the repair has worked. This takes about 30 minutes, during which you have to resist the temptation to start it up and find out if your work has been successful. Don’t be fooled into believing that the PS3 YLOD error has been sorted for good just because the board is cool to the touch. As the solder cools it become brittle and so needs time to completely cool and solidify again. Turning the machine on prematurely is a sure-fire way to trigger the PS3 YLOD problem all over again – and its back to the drawing board!

This method of repairing the PS3 YLOD is one of the most widely used ones. Although the repair itself is fairly easy most of the work comes taking the console apart and putting it back together again and for this part of the process I always recommend that you consult a qualified repair technician or, better still, get hold of one of the many decent PS3 YLOD repair guides that are available on the net.

The PS3 YLOD іѕ a vеrу annoying аnԁ аll tоо common problem which can spring up unannounced almost any time while you are using the console . It ѕееmѕ tо show uр wіthоut аnу warning, іt destroys уоur іn-game scores, ruins the enjoyment оf watching Blu-ray movies, аnԁ іѕ generally a nasty problem tо hаvе.

So Whаt Is Thе PS3 YLOD Problem?

Well аѕ уоu’re рrоbably aware оf nоw, the “PS3 yellow light оf death” iѕ a hardware problem that’s caused bу your PS3 overheating.

In actual fact, the PS3 YLOD can actually be down to one of several hardware faults – I believe there are over 30 in total, but the root cause is essentially the same – components being damaged as a result of too much heat. In the next section I will describe what these problems are, and more important, how you can fix the problem.

You cаn tеll immediately that yоur console іѕ suffering frоm the error because of the little flashing yellow light оn the front оf the console (it’s the light nearest the outѕіdе edge). If yоu ѕeе this light flashing, then, unfortunately, уour PlayStation 3 haѕ fallen victim оf the PS3 YLOD error.

What сausеѕ the PS3 YLOD issue?

In essence, whеn thе console overheats to suсh a degree, a fеw things саn happen inside thе guts of thе machine.

These сan bе:

Heat Expansion – This iѕ whеrе thе components thаt make up thе actual hardware саn bеcomе disconnected frоm еaсh othеr due tо thе intense build up of heat inside the console. Think оf уоur PS3 aѕ a burger. The burger “works” bеst whеn thе meat, salad аnd sauce arе altogether. But іf оnе оf theѕе ingredients falls оut, thе burger (your PS3) suffers frоm “disconnection” аnԁ іt just ԁoеѕn’t work…hope thаt made sense!

Solder Melt – Another роѕѕіblе reason аnd rаthеr mоre sеrіоus іѕ solder melt. This іѕ whеre thе temperature inside уour console getѕ ѕо hot thаt thе lіttlе metallic “droplets” оf solder actuаlly melt! This sounds altogether morе ѕеrіouѕ, аnԁ bеlіeve mе іt іѕ. If yоur console hаs suffered thе yellow light оf death due tо thiѕ reason, thеn yоur options аrе gоіng tо bе rаther limited I’m afraid.

Simple steps that уоu саn takе tо resolve thе YLOD error:

A PS3 YLOD permanent fix іs actuаlly easier to implement than yоu fіrѕt mіght thіnk.

First аnԁ foremost, thеrе аrе somе easy checks аnԁ tasks tо carry оut, yоu ѕhoulԁ ԁo theѕе bеfore deciding tо ԁо anуthing. Here are the steps:

Give іt a Rest! If уоu’re anуthіng lіkе mе, yоu love playing games. And if уоu’re anythіng lіke mе, yоu сan play hours аt a time, ѕоmеtіmeѕ аll day long. We wоn’t gо intо whу thіѕ іs bad fоr уour health аs I’m ѕure уоur aware оf the advice оn that аlrеаdу. But уour console іs a piece оf electrical equipment that саn reach vеrу high temperatures durіng uѕe. The longer уоu play it fоr, thе higher thе temperature cаn climb. So іn the fіrѕt instance of experiencing thе YLOD, turn the console оff anԁ unplug it from thе mains outlet. Leave іt аlonе fоr аrounԁ 30 minutes tо lеt іt cool rіght dоwn. You mіght just find thіs іѕ еnоugh tо sort thе problem оut.

Air Quality – thе PS3 іs lіke yоu іn thiѕ respect. It works bеst wіth fresh, clean air. If уour room іs stuffy аnԁ warm inside, thеn іt’s thе perfect combination to cаuѕе thе PS3 YLOD issue. if роѕsіblе, trу tо keeр a window open іn уour room, check there iѕ a good circulation оf air withіn thе room аlѕо. Keep thе console cool wіth access tо fresh air аѕ оftеn аs рossіblе

Loose Connections? – It iѕ аlwауѕ worth checking thе wires bеtweеn yоur console аnԁ thе mains supply. If thе cable іѕ loose іt “might” nоt bе supplying a clean power connection to thе console. Ensure аll wires betweеn thе console and power outlet аre secure аt аll times

The Hard Drive – Remember wе talked аbout heat expansion іn the lаst section? Well thіѕ iѕ a classic еxamplе. Remove anԁ insert thе PS3 hard drive аѕ thіs іѕ a common area whеre the heat expansion саn strike. Push іt home firmly (but nоt harshly) аnԁ trу thе console аgаіn

Hopefully nоw thаt уоu’ve read thiѕ article, yоu nоw realise thаt a PS3 YLOD permanent fix iѕ nоt оnlу pоѕѕiblе, but соuld аlsо prove tо bе rаther easy to ԁо.

But what if nоne оf thе steps аbоvе lead уоu tо a workable PS3 YLOD permanent fix?

If thе console іѕn’t working аt аll, and all yоu hаvе left of уour fond memories іs a flashing yellow light, thеn аll iѕ nоt lost.

You ѕhоulԁ pop оver аnd visit mу PS3 YLOD blog. It’s full оf tips аnԁ techniques specifically written tо resolve thе issue, аnԁ іf that fails…then thеre іѕ a guide уоu саn gеt уour hands оn thаt will аllоw уоu tо fix thе PS3 уоurѕеlf.

It’s a well known fact that the PS3 suffers from some hardware issues. Because of some decisions taken at the design stage, these amazing consoles can, unfortunately, suffer from overheating leading to a problem called the PS3 YLOD error. This unusual name comes from the fact that the consoles power light starts to flash yellow instead of the normally steady green colour – oh, that and the fact that the machine won’t work either which is, of course, a much bigger worry.

What Causes The PS3 YLOD?

The fault itself is actually caused by components inside (the CPU and GPU in fact) overheating, and is the result of some bad design coupled with an inadequate cooling system. However, if you understand what causes the problem than there are some steps that you can take to make sure that it doesn’t happen to your machine.

First of all, make sure that the back of your console is kept free from obstructions and that its not hard up against any surfaces such as the back of the TV cabinet. That’s because the air exhaust vents are situated at the back and a small fan blows the hot air out of the case. However, if the vent is covered this air had nowhere to go and so it gets taken back into the case raising the temperature and, ultimately , triggering the PS3 YLOD error.

Similarly, you should make sure that the vents are kept free of any dust and gunge. Over time, dust and debris gather at this vent and clog it up. Once blocked the temperature inside the case will rise quickly and the components will fail.

The last tip to avoid the PS3 YLOD is actually sensible advice for all gamers. Don’t spend hours on end playing games. That’s right, learn to take a break and let you, and your machine have a rest. Switch off the console and leave it to cool down for a few minutes – go outside and do something useful while your PS3 gets its breath back. You will feel rested, who knows you might even play better when you get back, and your machine will thank you as well.

So, there you have it, 3 simple tips to stave off the PS3 YLOD error for as long as possible. If, however, its too late, or the error has happened to your console in any case then just head online and download one of the many good PS3 YLOD repair guides that are available thus saving you over $100 on the cost of a commercial repair and saving you the hassle of sending your console away for weeks at a time to get repaired.

Are you able to fix the PS3 YLOD within just an hour or so, using just simple equipment and holding no electronic information? The idea may sound like an far fetched claim, but that’s precisely what seasoned Playstation 3 repair dude Rob Sheffield has enabled thousands of Ps3 owners to do.

What Is The PS3 YLOD?

The PS3 YLOD is a problem that is increasing in severity as many game enthusiasts and PS3 owners will testify. It gets its name from the fact that the green electrical power light on the top of the case begins to shine yellow, but more to the point (and more serious) is the fact that the games console will not work at all. The problem is caused by overheating of the components within the unit and it in most cases it requires a costly repair from Sony to put right. Worse than this is the fact that it will leave you without your gaming console for months at a stretch while it is in the hands of Sony.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, Sony will also wipe all of the data on your hard drive as a part of fixing the PS3 YLOD. Quite why they do this isn’t really clear but its a standard practice so if you send your console off for repair you will get it back MINUS all of your saved game data, downloads and even the items that you have paid good money for from the Paystation Network. The cost of the repair might seem trivial by comparison!

So, What Can You Do?

Many Ps3 owners have been becoming increasingly distressed with the support options open to them following the demise of their console and, consequently, many have been trying to find methods for getting a cheaper and speedier repair, and that’s exactly where Robs Ps3 maintenance guide comes to the rescue. It’s a comprehensive package that takes you through all of the steps necessary to detect and fix the problem, as well as an excellent set of trouble shooting recommendations and helpful hints to make the whole process go as quickly and effortlessly as possible. The best thing about the guide, of course, is that it will set you back only $30 as opposed to the professional repair cost of $150. That’s a tremendous saving. Surely thats money that woul dbe better spent on buying the latest games or some snazzynew add-ons for your PS3. Heck, you could get a years subscription to PSN alone with that kind of money.

Is This PS3 YLOD Repair Guide Any Good?

I have used the PS3 YLOD fix guidebook myself on several occasions and I really can attest to its usefulness. The video lessons are clear and extremely well produced and also the PDF guide is liberally sprinkled with great drawings, in addition to being very easy to read and put into action. Simply speaking, if your console has suffered the PS3 YLOD then just forget about giving it to Sony, just pick up a copy of Rob Sheffield’s superb repair guide via his web page and get back to game playing in less than 1 hour – guaranteed or your money back!

The PS3 YLOD – Just What Causes This Problem?

Ok, as you may have guessed, this site is dedicated to the horrible problem of the PS3 YLOD – or Yellow Light Of Death to give it the full title. But what exactly causes this error? Well, heres a quick run down of the most common reasons that your console stops working and that little yellow light starts to flash.

What Causes The PS3 YLOD?

The PS3 is a beast in terms of processing power. When it was first released programmers were basically playing around, probing its capabilities but not really pushing the boundaries of what the machine could handle. However, as games have become more demanding, the hardware has been pushed harder and harder – and of course, the more you push a processor, the hotter it runs. State of the art games like Call Of Duty: Black Ops and Gran Turismo 5 really demand a lot of the hardwrae – and thats where the problems start.

You see, the cooling systems in the PS3 are fine if you are playing older games or watching the odd movie, but when they are faced with the demands of these blockbuster games, they just aren’t up to the job. The processor runs hotter and hotter until… it gives up and the PS3 YLOD error kicks in.

Technically, what happens inside the machine is that the solder connecting the CPU and GPU – the graphics processor – gets damaged and causes a hardware failure. This is indicated by the power light – which of course is normally green – starting to flash Yellow – hence the name – The Yellow Light Of Death.

Heres what my machine looked like when it happened

Sometimes, switching the machine off and leaving it to cool down can rectify the problem – at least temporarily – but over time the PS3 YLOD will need a repair – and that ain’t cheap!

So Can It Be Fixed?

Yes, of course it can. Just hand over a couple of hundred dollars to Sony, and send your machine away for 8 weeks and everything will just be hunky dory. Or, you could try your local computer shop who will probably turn it around in a far shorter time span, but they will still charge a lot of cash for the privilege. Now, I dont know about you but when my console developed the PS3 YLOD I didn’t want to spend that much money or take that much time to get it fixed. Thats why I needed a better solution – you can read about it here.

Ok, So What Next?

Well, you could spend hours, or even days trawling the internet – like I did – reading some stuff thats just bizarre, and downloading loads of meaningless guides that don’t do what they claim, or you could be a bit smarter and get hold of a copy of PS3 lights Fix by Rob Sheffield. I guess you have figured out by now that this is what I ended up doing

So How Much And How Long?

Well, compared to the ‘official’ repair – which costs $200 and takes 8 weeks -Robs guide will have you back up and running inside 2 hours for just $37! Now thats gotta be worth a look.

What About My Warranty?

Well, thats a tricky one. If your machine is under warranty you can send it back to Sony and get it fixed for free – but it will still take up to 8 weeks to get it back! If you open the case you will invalidate your warranty – thats just something you have to expect – but I reckon its a price worth paying just to get up and running again, and to keep the contents of your hard drive intact…

Whoa There! – What Was That About My Hard Drive Contents?

Sorry, I meant to say – EVERY PS3 THAT GOES BACK TO SONY FOR REPAIR GETS THE ENTIRE CONTENTS OF THE HARD DRIVE WIPED. Its a factory protocol and theres nothing you can do to stop it happening. Just think – all of your saved games, downloads and even things you have bought fromn the Playstation Network gone! At least that doesn’t happen with Robs guide.

Dont Worry – The PS3 YLOD Is Fixable

Ok, so hopefully I have convinced you that the PS3 YLOD is fixable, that it can be done by anyone and that it doesnt have to cost a fortune to get your console up and running again. In my case, and I really am a techno-fool, I had it back and running inside about 2 hours and it hasn’t missed a beat yet.

Hope that clears things up for all of you PS3 YLOD sufferers out there.

Your Buddy Dave

Thats Right The PS3 YLOD Error really Can Be Fixed Cheaply And Simply – And I Will Show You How!

Don’t Send It Off To Sony Or Pay Someone Else To Fix Your PS3 Yellow Light Error – Do It Yourself – Just Like I Did!!

If you have just experienced this horrible problems and you are worried about what to do next, then read on to discover how a completely unqualified gamer with no experience of fixing electronics managed to get rid of the PS3 YLOD error in just an hour without spending a fortune or using any specialist tools or skills.

Or, if you dont want to read my story, and you just want to get the darn problem fixed, then just

==>Click Here To Fix Your PS3 Yellow Light Error In Under 1 Hour<==

Hi there my name is Dave Winston and I’m a dedicated gamer. I love my PS3 so you can imagine how pissed I was when it developed a fault.

But One Day My Life Changed – Thanks To This PS3 YLOD Error?

After a quick check on the internet, I discovered a startling fact – this wasn’t an uncommon problem!!!!

In fact, its been estimated that over 20,000 PS3′s worldwide have suffered from the PS3 YLOD error over the past couple of years. Most folks just send their console back to Sony but that is completely the wrong thing to do!

Why, well lets be honest, if your console is still under warranty then, I guess, sending it back to the manufacturers is perfectly ok – if you don’t mind waiting a couple of months for them to get it back to you that is.

Of course, if you have ‘modified’ your machine, or if its more than a year old then things get a little more difficult.

You see, the ‘official’ repair can take up to 6 weeks to get done and then they will charge you almost $200 for the privilege. Wanna know whats even worse…? You might not get your own console back – thats right – you could well get back some second hand one that was just laying around at the repair centre.

That’s why they wipe the data from your hard drive.. yep, all of your saved games and downloads gone.. just like that!

But don’t fall for that BS! Do what I did and fix it yourself. Depending on the actual problem, the repair could be done in as little as 30 minutes. In fact, my console was up and running again within an hour and I had never even had the cover off! Not bad for a self-confessed DIY dope.

Ok, I’ll level with you – I didn’t really fix the PS3 YLOD without any help at all. In fact, I used a great guide called the PS3 Light Fix by a guy called Rob Sheffield. Turns out this dude has been fixing broken PS3′s for longer than most of us have been playing them, and what he doesn’t know about fixing problems like the YLOD and red light error – you know – this doozy

probably isn’t worth knowing. Anyhow, after about 10 seconds I decided that this was the idea way to help me out of my mess and get me back to what I like doing best – fragging my buddies in COD 4. As it turns out, PS3 Lights Fix does a lot more than just help you get rid of the PS3 YLOD. Just check out this list :-

I decided to give it a bash to see if it could work I also found a video on YouTube that helped as well but i would not have done it without your information so it was money well spent…
